Winter is here

We are officially into the colder months now, which can make those early morning training sessions a little more challenging.

Waking up for the gym when it’s dark and cold can make it easy to shut off the alarm and skip the days workout. But getting up and out the door is always the hardest part. You’ll never regret your workout once it’s done!

Here are a few tips to keep you committed to your workouts, even on those extra chilly Christchurch days:

1)      Plan your week in advance and book in your classes early. Then you can schedule them in your diary and block out that time in your day just for working out. Think of it like a meeting you can’t miss, that has been planned for already.

2)      Find yourself a workout buddy so you can keep each other accountable. You will be less likely to cancel last minute if you know someone is counting on you to show up.

3)      Get everything ready for the gym the night before so you have less to think about in the morning. Lay out your active wear, drink bottle, gym bag, sweat towel… so you can just wake up, get ready and go!

4)       Ensure you are getting to sleep early enough, so you aren’t waking up super tired for those early classes.

5)      When your alarm goes in the morning, get up straight away. Snooze is not your friend, and can make getting up that much harder.
